That really sucks , sorry to hear about your bike. These have to be about the most well designed and built motorcycle engines ever. Stuff happens.

Sad moment, can we all bow our heads for a few moments of silence.....................Ok that's done....... how is your fairing stay and speedometer? In your pictures they looked like they may have already been replaced.

After sleeping on it I’ve decided to say goodbye to her and part the bike out. We had some great memories and the bike was super solid up to its demise. I have some quality components hopefully some guys will be happy with. I’ll make a separate thread.Last edited by Chef; 03-15-2023, 07:44 AM.

another vote for a new engine.
A new top end will end up costing about the same in the end, and a new motor will have much less headache

I won't be able to sleep tonight. Never seen a Gen 1 motor with that much damage in 22 years on the site. A replacement motor is my vote.

That is really strange.
I'd also say a replacement engine would take less time and cost less.

Thank you. I figured you guys would be honest and let me know the best course of action. So that’s 2 votes for a new motor.
