And its usually cheaper to just buy an r1 lower and re use the fz1 thats modified

About the FZ1 gen1 stem:
I would have to buy one, because i cant destroy mine.
We have TüV in Germany, every second year we have to show the bike and let them inspect it.
If the TüV guy isnt happy or had a bad day, R1 forks on a fazer is a no go.
So it is highly recomended to have a stock version in the basement.
Transfer for one day and back to R1.
This is also the reason i want to go with FZ1 gen2 upper yoke.
It looks so much NOT modified wich is a blessing in my case.
Maybe buy a gen1 stem is cheaper then letting the CNC work. This is really possible and a good option to keep in mind.

Okay guys project started.
Lower clamps of a 02/03 5pw R1: 100€ from the Netherlands
Upper is 2006 FZ1 2d1: 45€ from Italy
Both stunning looking parts no wear or damage, perfectly straight.
Tomorrow i get in contact withe the stem manufacturer.
They press out the old, measure, build the new one to press fit into place.
Next is ordering the bearings at AllBalls, and decide wich tubes(legs)
02/03 is pretty nice i think, keeping costs as low as poss. but still getting major improvemnts over the OEM forks.
Axle and Fender are not very expensive.
Would like to go the best possible parts like 07/08 but the wheel alone would maybe double up the budget, without brakes wich i imagine could be as expensive as the wheel. If not more.
I keep you updated
